    Bradley Harmon named president and publisher of 'Dispatch'

    Bradley M. Harmon was named today as the new president of the Dispatch Media Group, as well as president and publisher of The Columbus Dispatch.

    Harmon previously was Vice President, Large Dailies for GateHouse Media. A Cleveland native, he began his career in Willoughby withThe News Herald and went on to work for newspapers in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Portland, Ore., before joining GateHouse Media in 2010.

    Kirk Davis, CEO of GateHouse Media, whose parent company bought the Dispatch Media Group in June, introduced Harmon, saying that Harmon is the perfect person to lead The Dispatch, its sister publications and its consumer show division.

    Harmon replaces Jim Hopson, of Granville, who was named interim publisher in June while GateHouse Media conducted a national search for a long-term president and publisher.

    New Media Investment Group, the holding company for GateHouse, bought The Dispatch for $47 million in a transaction that was completed in June.

    The Dispatch Media Group includes The Dispatch; ThisWeek Community Newspapers, a collection of 24 suburban weeklies; and the Magazine Division that includes Columbus Monthly andColumbus CEO; and the Consumer Shows Division, which produces events such as the Home and Garden shows.

    New Media owns 126 daily publications and 550 community publications and operates in more than 460 markets in 32 states.
